Is Cryotherapy an effective treatment for recovery and health?
- Yes. Cryo was developed in Japan in 1978 by a rheumatoid arthritis doctor and has been further researched and developed since then. Professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB have made cryotherapy an integral part of their recovery. Many NCAA teams are using cryotherapy and compression therapy at their training facilities to increase recovery and performance for collegiate athletes as well.
Is it painful?
- No, it's not painful. Some people may experience a "pins and needles" sensation towards the end of the 3 minute session but not pain.
What if I don't like the cold?
- Cryotherapy is a dry cold with no moisture and is tolerable even to people who consider themselves cold intolerant. Usually if you can talk yourself into trying it, the benefits you feel after a session greatly outweigh the slight discomfort you experience being chilly.
How long will my appointment take?
- A Chill Session is a maximum of 3 minutes long. On your first visit you will need to complete a new client waiver and we will discuss and answer any questions you may have so expect your first visit to last about 15-20 minutes. After your initial visit you can expect a visit to take about 10 minutes which includes clothes changing time.
What do I wear? Do I need to bring anything?
- We provide you with socks, gloves, and slippers. Men are required to wear boxers or briefs (we also have boxers available if needed); women may choose to keep their undergarments on or remove them.Ideally you want to expose as much skin as possible to optimize your body's reaction. All jewelry should be removed from the neck down. In the event a piercing is not removable it may be covered with a bandage to limit cold exposure. You should avoid applying any type of lotion, oil, or perfume for an hour or two before your session as they may interact with the cold and could cause a reaction on your skin.
Why do you take my blood pressure?
- Our number one priority is to keep our clients as safe as possible. Because blood pressure can fluctuate during the session by up to 10 points we check to make sure your blood pressure is below 160 mmHg before each session.
What if I am claustrophobic?
- Your entire head is out of the unit during your session, the cryosauna door is held by 3 magnets and does not lock, and a certified cryotherapy technician is there with you for the entire Chill session.
How will I feel after my first Chill Session?
- The effects of cryotherapy vary from person to person. Most people experience a rush of energy for the next 4-6 hours and almost everyone reports sleeping better after a session. Many may notice an immediate relief of pain and an increase in flexibility, while it may take a few sessions for others.
How many sessions are needed to achieve results?
- Because everyone is different results from cryo are also different. As we stated some people notice immediate relief while others need more sessions for the same benefit. Typically we recommend that you start with 3 sessions within a 10 day period - this will give you the best idea of what cryotherapy can do for your body. After that it really depends on how your body respods. For general health and wellness 1-2 sessions a week is recommended. For those with an injury or those who are training extremely hard for an upcoming event 3-4 sessions a week would be optimal.
Is there anything I should or shouldn't do after a Chill Session?
- No, there is nothing you have to do and nothing you need to avoid after your session. You may continue your normal routine as usual.
Who should use Cryotherapy?
- Almost everyone can benefit from cryotherapy whether you are a professional athlete, a weekend warrior, soccer mom, grandparent, or high school athlete. Cryotherapy is great for reducing chronic pain and inflammation, rejuvenating skin, and boosting metabolism. Used after surgery, cryo can help to accelerate healing and reduce pain without the unwanted side effects of prescription drugs.
Are there any limitations to using cryotherapy?
- Yes, a client under the age of 14 cannot use cryotherapy. The client cannot have high blood pressure (above 160 systolically) , have or have had seizures, have a severe case of Raynaud’s syndrome, be pregnant, have any existing heart issue, have any major vascular issues, have clots or have had a brain aneurism, have any severe reaction to cold or have had a stroke. Other contraindications exist for which each client should fully read the waiver.
What does compression therapy feel like?
- Compression is not hot or cold. They are sleeves that fill individual chambers with air. Most people find it very relaxing similar to a massage.
Do I need to wear special clothing?
- No, just make sure to wear something comfortable as the sleeves will fit over your clothing.

Who should not use compression therapy?
- Anyone with a current or unstable fractures or breaks, recent surgery and have sutures or stiches, open wounds, contusions, or abrasions. If you have any other injury, illness or medical condition, you should consult your physician prior to using Normatec.
What is low level light therapy (Biophotonic therapy)?

How long does a Celluma session last?
- 30 minutes
Are there any special preparations required before using Celluma?
- Celluma should be in close proximity to the area being treated. Skin should also be free of clothing, makeup, or anything else that may deflect light away from the skin.
Are there any contraindications to using Celluma?
- Celluma should not be used by anyone with a seizure disorder, on the belly of pregnant women, anyone with a light sensitivity or taking medication that causes a light sensitivity.
Do I need to book an appointment?
- Yes. For most of our services we accept Walk-ins but the infrared sauna requires about 30 minutes to heat up to temperature so we ask that you book your session at least 2 hours in advance to allow us to get the sauna ready for you.
What's the difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna?
- Traditional saunas heat the air to warm your body. Infrared saunas use light to heat your body without heating the air.

What should I wear?
- We recommend you wear loose fitting clothing such as shorts and a tank top/t-shirt or a bathing suit. You will also want to bring dry clothing to wear after your session. We will provide a towel for you to use during your session.
What if I start to feel faint or get too hot?
- Listen to your body and do not try to overdo it or tough it out. Open the sauna door for a bit or step out of the sauna. A technician is always close by so let them know if you need help. You may need to start with a 10-15 minute session and build up to 30 minutes. Make sure you are well hydrated. Do not drink caffeinated or alcoholic beverages before your sauna session.
Who should not use an infrared sauna?
Anyone with cardiovascular conditions, alcohol use, chronic conditions/diseases that affect your ability to sweat, insensitivity to heat, fever, pregnancy, joint injury, pacemaker/defibrillator, medications that affect ability to sweat, children, elderly, implants.
